How to give your website a creative and engaging touch for visitors
Take your website from blah to wow with a few simple additions to your current website. It’s the little things that make the biggest difference for your website visitors, truly!
Here are some of my favorite ways to add a bit of spice to your website, making it more enticing.
Interactive quizzes and surveys
Add an interactive quiz and/or survey to your website - it’s a great way to engage your site visitors, gain valuable feedback, and collect user data.
Quizzes and surveys can be a fun way to get visitors added to your mailing lists - consider creating a relevant quiz/survey that provides visitors with more information about a given topic, or make it fun and create something along the lines of “See what interior design style you’re most like!”
You have creative freedom with this, and the possibilities are limitless.
Embed your social media feed
Allow site visitors to explore more about you through other channnels, such as Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. Odds are, your online personality is a bit different depending upon the social channel (ex: Instagram may be more casual and fun, LinkedIn may be more professional, etc.).
You can integrate your social media accounts by including icons for them in your navigation and/or footer of your website, but also by embedding it onto your site. Consider adding your Instagram feed to your home page, or on your about page, so visitors can see it as they’re scrolling and reading about your work. Providing eye-catching content can encourage them to want to learn more about your content elsewhere and give you a follow!
Install a live chat
Meta offers a live chat option that can be embedded onto your website and pop-up in the bottom corner of the screen when visitors are on your website. This can include FAQs for your visitors to choose from, as well as automated responses that give your visitors answers quickly. It can also function as an online support, linking to your inbox so you know to get in touch regarding anything else they may have questions about.
Add interactive sliders and image carousels
This can be done to showcase products, services, portfolios, and more. This is a great, interactive way for site visitors to see your work and easily access it - it also makes for a more aesthetically pleasing layout!
Incorporate scrolling features
Get creative and mess around with scrolling features on your website, such as Parallax. Squarespace and Wix both offer unique and creative scrolling features for background images, giving your website some movement as visitors scroll. This creates a unique site experiene while also looking professional and put together.
Add background videos
Are you a videographer, or have video content relevant to the work you do that you think would add to your website? Incorporate moving parts (when relevant and without overdoing it) to make your site stand out! Some examples of this would be having a video behind your home page’s banner, or having a video showcasing how a product or service works on a shop screen.
As mentioned, be sure not to overdo this feature, as it can potentially slow website speed, which can impact user-experience and your SEO rankings!
